Very rude staff (especially clinical officers, nurses, midwives and ward maids). Almost non-existent patient care (with the exception of a few medical officers, usually interns). If your case is unique, you’re used as a studying aid for MUST Medical students which would be ok if (after their little lecture) the Doctor actually tried to help you. You’re basically treated as an unwilling participant in an experiment! Don’t even get me started on the cardiology department! It has the most unprofessional doctors and technicians I’ve ever had the misfortune of meeting! Basically, in this “public” regional referral hospital, go with cash or there’ll be no service! And even with money, professionalism and patient care isn’t guaranteed. So if you can afford it, please go elsewhere if possible. The only positive thing about this hospital is The Pediatrics Department. With all my bad experiences, Pediatrics has always had good Doctors available any time of day or night.

I came here with a broken collar bone. They took care of me effectively and courteously. Given the very challenging conditions for the staff, I was impressed.

Care falls below any decent standard of care in any country. Vacant nurse stations, no medication, no one checking on vitals machines. You literally have to run across town to the pharmacy to buy meds for a patient in the middle of a stroke. It is a useless 'hospital' - just an building with beds and unmanned pulse machines. Also, patients are used as experiments to train medical students without proper consent.
