  It's part of the mbarara regional referral hospital ward.. has inpatient being managed for various surgical conditions and it's generally in a good condition.. though infrastructurally not the best compared to it's counter part on the private wing .. hosts students, nurses, general surgeons and professors who conduct ward rounds and administer comprehensive surgical care to patients at a free cost.
